Moo Moo’s Story

We all have dreams, but it takes failure and perseverance to follow them. Moo Moo’s vegetarian cuisine was developed and started by culinary artist Michele Rastelli in 2005. “Moo Moo” was a childhood nickname.

The dream started when Michele was young and often spoke of opening her own vegetarian restaurant when she was older. Things never quite did pan out that way, but as she got older, her way of life changed and molded her dream in a different direction. In her teens, she became a devoted vegetarian, and her mind began to focus more on healthy eating to accommodate a healthy lifestyle.

It started off as a company that sold to local markets, all the food was prepared in a small kitchen located in the back of the bistro that Michele and her sister Marissa ran. Over time that was filled with laughter, frustrations, and endless hours of cooking. During that time, Michele saw another opportunity for her company. This was steered by the demand of her fresh food, outside of Michigan, which ultimately led to the launch of Moo Moo’s frozen food line.

Moo Moo’s specializes in unique, healthy, flavorful vegetarian and vegan cuisine, providing the health conscious consumer unprocessed, well-balanced, palate-pleasing creations.

Moo Moo’s uses only the finest ingredients, including organic tofu, and natural grains, legumes, and pastas. Our ingredient sourcing comes from those with the same values of honest, sustainable food, for the common good of healthy lifestyles. The frozen line currently offers vegan, gluten and lactose free entrees. Our cuisine appeals to vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, as well as those with specific food allergens.

The creation of a dish is an intricate, thoughtful process. Most ideas stem from Michele strolling through farmers markets which allows for an array of in season produce and delectable flavors. When creating a dish, the aesthetic is a combination of colors, textures and flavors that are brought out naturally through the vegetables, fruits and legumes without relying on saturated oils and sodium.
